"Protein is an essential for life and is needed by everyone on a daily basis. During digestion, proteins are broken down into smaller units called amino acids. There are 20 different amino acids, consisting of 9 essential amino acids and 11 non-essential amino acids. The body cannot produce any of the essential amino acids, so these need to be supplied by the diet.

If you are regularly participating in strenuous strength, speed or endurance exercise, then your protein needs may be greater than those recommended for sedentary individuals. Strength conditioning experts encourage increasing your daily protein intake to 2 g/kg of body mass. It is critical that the protein consumed contains high concentrations of the 9 essential amino acids. So for a 75 Kg person, they should aim for 150 gms of protein per day.
